The 8th ASEAN Head of Competition Authority (AHCA) Meeting

On the morning of October 5, 2026, the Department of Internal Trade, Ministry of Industry and Commerce of the Lao PDR, had the honor of hosting and chairing the 8th ASEAN Heads of Competition Agencies (AHCA) Meeting. The meeting was chaired by Mr. Santisouk PHOUNESAVATH, Director General of the Department of Internal Trade.

This high-level meeting of ASEAN business competition authorities serves as a key platform for shaping policies and defining strategic directions for cooperation on business competition within the ASEAN framework. During the meeting, delegates discussed the implementation of the 5-Year Strategic Plan, collaboration with development partners, and mechanisms to formalize the AHCA. Additionally, discussions touched upon the concept of establishing the ASEAN Competition Centre of Excellence and preparations for the 12th ASEAN Competition Conference.
